Faith Formation

faithformationcollageThe Church of the Epiphany in Port Orange, Florida is committed to the mission of Jesus Christ. We have multiple opportunities for people of all ages to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith through worship, community and service. Our Faith Formation program is rooted in the Gospel and our Catholic tradition. This enables our community to connect faith with daily life. It also provides opportunities for educational and spiritual development as well as service in ministries within the parish and wider community.

Catechesis is derived from the Greek word meaning “to echo or resound” or “to sound from above”. The word echoed or resounded through catechesis is the “Word” of God made flesh – Jesus Christ, and he gives us his “word” through Sacred Scripture. Catechists assist individuals and communities to acquire and deepen faith and identity through initiation rites, instruction, and the formation of conscience. Parents and catechists do this by resonating the “Word” of God in their very life. Through Baptism, the whole Church is called to participate in the mission of catechesis:We invite and welcome you to be involved in the ministry of Faith Formation. There are many ways to share your gifts and we can help you find which part of this ministry you would be best to serve in.

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” —Matthew 28: 19-20

We invite and welcome your family to be involved in the Family Life and Evangelization ministry. There are many ways to share your gifts and we can help you find which part of this ministry you would be best to serve in.

Epiphany’s Family Formation is structured according to scripture and the Churchs catechetical documents (all of which) declare the family to be the center of catechesis. The Family Formation curriculum framework, benchmarks (statements of expectations), prayers and practices comply with the Diocese of Orlando commitment to catechesis and conform to the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Please visit our online calendar regularly and check the weekly bulletin for upcoming Family Formation and middle/high school youth ministry sessions, events and gatherings.
