Faith Formation – Families

“And these words which I command you this day shall be upon your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down and when you rise. And you shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. And you shall write them on your doorposts of your house and on your gates.” – Deuteronomy 6:6-9 (RSV)

Families are the central focus of formation at Epiphany. Families, regardless of their size and makeup, who embrace the Eucharist as the center, source and summit of their own formation and lives. Formed by that Eucharistic experience, the Evangelization and Family Life Ministry offers a support system for families, partnering with parents in fulfilling their promise to instruct themselves and their children in the faith of the Church.

We believe that by focusing on forming families as a whole unit and as individuals we are building a stronger domestic church (family) and ultimately a stronger Church Community.

Unlike traditional school models of formation, the Family Formation program brings the entire family together to pray, break open the Word of God and share topics of our faith. Based on a four week schedule families:

Week 1: Gather at the church for Family Catechesis. Parents/Adults and children meet in their own age appropriate groups. Based on a monthly theme, parents/adults are sent forth from family formation with the knowledge, courage and tools to continue the conversation at home.

Weeks 2-4: Using the tools received at Family Formation, families gather together once a week at home (dedicated time) for 1 (+/-) hour of uninterrupted prayer, conversation and formation on the assigned topic for that specific week.

Catechetical Team
The Catechetical Team is comprised of men and women who love to share their faith with young and old alike. These volunteers are dedicated to their own formation and work tirelessly to bring about an encounter with Jesus to those whom they echo their faith to. If you love sharing your faith in Jesus Christ with others, we would love to have you become part of this great team of ministers.

CORE Youth Ministry Leaders
Our CORE youth ministry team are parents and other adults that have a deep desire to form middle and high school youth into a vibrant community of faith. We need energetic adults who love teens and tweens to fill many rolls. Behind the scenes, prayer leaders, catechists, game/sports leaders, mentors and monitors. If you think this sounds like you, join us… Our Teens need you!

Family Life Committee
This dedicated group of volunteers consists of parents, grandparents and single parishioners who have a strong desire to build up our community of faith as one single family; “We are many, but all one”. This team is responsible for seeking out new opportunities for the community to gather for prayer, catechesis, fellowship and service. If you have a teamwork mindset and a desire to discover, plan and share ideas, then we need you to be a part of this team.
